Institution Name: Alvernia University

Description: 
The Greater Reading Non-Profit Career-Readiness Partnership aims to increase connections between local non-profit organizations and Alvernia University to provide low-income students career-readiness skills through real-world experiences such as internships and other community- based learning experiences. The AmeriCorps *VISTA member will serve as a liaison with non-profit organizations embedded in the Greater Reading community to help develop internships and high impact community based learning experiences with the hope that these experiences will turn into full-time, entry-level positions. 

Institution Name: Dickinson College

Description: 
The VISTA will develop systems for managing the lab (including volunteer recruitment and management, scheduling, and tracking maintenance needs); document unmet needs and demand for training and resources; and, recruit and schedule college and community stakeholders to develop and deliver clinics and programs that enhance computer skills, job search effectiveness, resume writing, and employee soft skills. Working with the Northside Learning & Action Network, an established coalition of Dickinson faculty and community stakeholders, the VISTA will coordinate a needs assessment to direct future engagement with senior citizens, English language learners, and individuals re-entering the community post-incarceration.​

Institution Name: Elizabethtown College (Job Readiness)

Description: 
The VISTA will target under-resourced members of the Elizabethtown and Mount Joy areas to strengthen their resources and challenges through improving job readiness skills.​ Our VISTA will be joining a unified city-focus Lancaster County’s Mayor’s Commission to Combat Poverty who has defined poverty as “the condition of living with an income less than the Federal Poverty Thresholds for one’s household size.”

Description: 
The VISTA assigned to the Institute for Nonprofit Leadership will Conduct research on concerns and best practices regarding re-entry, recovery, individual and community resilience, and workforce development.​ Engage Slippery Rock University students/faculty as well as other community members as volunteers and mentors to assist in building the capacity of county organizations that address re-entry, recovery, individual and community resilience, and workforce development. If you have excellent research and organizational skills, the passion to make a difference and want to join a team of government, nonprofit, university and community champions committed to finding a way to address poverty among those persons most impacted by this epidemic,​ thank this is the position for you!

Description: The CCNYPA*VISTA will play a critical role enhancing HIAS PA’s capacity to support newly-arrived refugees and asylees as they prepare for, find, and sustain their very first jobs in America.  The CCNYPA*VISTA will also play a role in helping Penn students engage with the Refugee Employment Team at HIAS PA, by supporting volunteer outreach, coordination, and training and education of Penn students.

Description: The VISTA will extend the organizational reach and ability of the Washington CDC to respond to the community members’ requests for assistance with initiating homeownership and home stabilization. The VISTA will focus on data inventory management, property management and record keeping for duplication and expansion of the rehab initiatives. The VISTA will also seek support and collaborative opportunities from other community organizations.
